The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think that it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and it’s very brightly coloured, and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question - is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say ‘Hey! Don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because… this is just a ride.’ And we…kill those people. Ha ha ha. ‘Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride. SHUT HIM UP! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and family. This just has to be real.’ … It’s just a ride.. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn’t matter.. because: it’s just a ride.. And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings, and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourselves off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here’s what you can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defence each year, and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, for ever, in peace.

Give all the idiots a brand new religion
Put an end to poverty, uncleanliness and toil
Promote equality in all of my decisions
With a quick wink of the eye
And a, “God, you must be joking!”

Should I really care THAT MUCH about where I’ll end up working?
I mean, as long as I don’t have to worry about it when I’m not there, keep a fair amount of free time and make enough money to live normally (and maybe save some of it too), anything seems good..
To do what I like there’s always the time when I’m not at work.. And turning my passions and hobbies into full time job is starting to seem like a really bad idea. Like the fastest way to take away the fun from them.
Meh..
So.. May as well turn this into an advice that I wish someone gave me..
To any second grader out there that’s about to choose what to do with his life: if you have to choose a university be really, really, REALLY sure you know what you want to do after you get out of there. If you are not sure (or you have no idea), take your time to think about it, talk with the people you know about their jobs and dreams and maybe they’ll help you find your own objective.
And no, “getting a degree” is not a reasonable objective. It will only seem reasonable for the first and maybe second year, but after that you’ll need to know where you’re going with that degree and you’d better have a good answer because you can’t fool yourself and it’s gonna be really hard to go on studying with that question in mind.
Yeh, I know what you’re thinking: “But how can someone so young already know what he wants to do with his life?” and “What if someone still doesn’t know what to do when the time to choose comes?”
Well, to answer the first question (thanks for asking btw), you’ll be surprised at how many people actually know what they want to be since they’re young (and they have no problems going through any quantity of study to get where they want to be), and I’m not saying everyone will come up with a good answer to it, just that they should at least try searching for it.
As for the second question, those who can’t figure out what they want to become have 2 options:
1st option: (which, at the moment, is the one I’d pick if I went back) choose an easy field of study!! Possibly one with a 3 years long degree course, one that will get you a job with the charachteristics I listed at the beginning of the post.
2nd option: (the one I actually picked and that led me here today) get one of the things you like to do in your free time (music? movies? computer? photography? anything..) and go in a related field hoping it will work out. Maybe you’re lucky and it will. And maybe you’ll keep liking it even after working at it for 30 years..
But anyway.. People are weird and everyone will experience these things and handle them in their own way.. And.. Holy wall of text, Batman! I wrote so freaking much!! At least it helped putting some order in the chaos that’s occupying my mind.. well.. I hope it will help someone, somewhere, in some way.. Goodnight.
